These gluten free BBQ chicken sliders are a guaranteed hit with your family and friends. Loaded with BBQ chicken and mozzarella, then oven baked and slicked with garlic butter to finish, they taste amazing!
I generally make these with leftover roast chicken, but you can use any cooked chicken for the filling. I’ve cheated and used shop-bought BBQ sauce (always check it is gluten free), to make this recipe super quick and easy. However, if you prefer a homemade sauce, the one from my BBQ pulled pork recipe tastes divine.
As for the squishy gluten free buns, try Schar Brioche (my go to for shop bought burger buns) or my Fluffy White Rolls for homemade.
Can I Air Fry These BBQ Chicken Sliders Instead of Baking?
Yes absolutely, if they fit in your airfryer basket try 180C about 10 minutes covered, then 5 uncovered when brushed with the garlic butter.
Gluten Free BBQ Chicken Sliders Recipe
This recipe will make enough for 4 people with a side dish (chips or slaw make a great option). If you want to make more/fewer portions, simply double/halve the ingredients and follow the same method.

BBQ Chicken Sliders (GF)
Loaded with BBQ chicken and mozzarella, these BBQ chicken sliders are oven baked slicked with garlic butter. Delicious!
Ingredients
- 300g cooked chicken (I use leftover roast chicken)
- 100ml BBQ sauce (ensure gluten free - or for homemade see my BBQ pulled pork recipe)
- 100g shredded mozzarella cheese
- 4 gluten free burger buns or large gf bread rolls
- 2 cloves garlic
- 25g melted butter
- 1 tsp olive oil
- 1 tsp fresh parsley, finely chopped
Instructions
- Use two forks to shred the chicken, pulling it into smaller pieces, then mix with the BBQ sauce until the chicken is completely coated.
- Preheat your oven to 170C (fan). Then assemble the sliders in a small square baking dish, which fits the buns quite snugly. Slice the buns in halve and place the bases in the tin. Top with the BBQ chicken, then shredded mozzarella. Put the tops of the buns onto the sliders, then lightly cover the tin with tin foil. Bake for 15 minutes at 170C.
- To make the garlic butter, simply finely mince the garlic cloves and mix with the melted butter, olive oil and parsley.
- Remove the sliders from the oven and take off the tin foil. Brush then buns with the garlic butter, then return to the oven (uncovered) to bake for a further 5 minutes.
- Serve those delicious sliders with the sides of your choice (slaw and guacamole are great), or enjoy as a standalone dish. Perfect for game night!
